Days out: the museum, the barbeque and the heather visit

This year’s ADBKA days out started in July with a visit to the Zoology Museum on St Machar Drive, with a special treat arranged by Hannah to see some trays of insect displays that aren’t usually on view to visitors.

In August Joan and Karl Gilbert-Stevens hosted a generous barbeque with Hebridean lamb chops and burgers supplied by Nick and Michelle Ball. About sixty ADBKA members enjoyed a day of good company and excellent food. Thank you, Joan, Karl, Nick and Michelle, and everybody who contributed to the day.

And finally we visited one of Murray McGregor’s apiaries on the heather at the beginning of September. Despite expecting rain, no umbrellas were needed, giving us ample opportunity to admire comb after comb of beautiful heather honey against the light, ask Murray questions and, as usual with a visit to Murray’s apiaries, we learned a lot. We are fortunate and grateful to Murray for giving us so much of his time.
