ADBKA

Aberdeen and District Beekeepers’ Association is a venerable beekeeping association with a long history of teaching and supporting beekeepers here in the north east of Scotland.  Our legal form is a ‘Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation’, governed in accordance with a constitution approved by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator and adopted by members in January 2015.  A copy of our constitution can be found here.

In 2014 we were very pleased to be offered a new site for our Association training apiary at Crathes Castle, a National Trust property. The cabin at the Crathes apiary was generously part-financed by the Scottish Government and the European Community Aberdeenshire LEADER 2007-2013 Programme, as well as by Scottish Natural Heritage.

Our hives are in a very sheltered spot with a southerly aspect. On fine days the bee hives get the full benefit of the warm sunshine – and that’s where we frequently meet for demonstrations, to share knowledge, and where new or would-be beekeepers can get hands-on experience inspecting busy colonies of bees.
